Coach Trey Brown — QB Coach at Muhlenberg College

Trey Brown III

QB Coach & Special Teams Coordinator · Muhlenberg College

QB

A Career Built
on Winning.

Trey Brown isn't a former player selling his playing days. He is a career coach — one who has built winning offenses and developed quarterbacks at every level of college football for 28 years. That distinction matters when your son steps onto a training field.

Coach Brown's philosophy is built on a foundation of trust and honesty — the combination he believes allows a true coaching connection to form. Every athlete is approached as an individual. Every development plan is specific, not generic. Simple coaching cues. Consistent feedback. Accountable, continuous fundamental repetition.

A native of Longmont, Colorado, Brown earned his BS in Marketing from the University of Colorado in 1993 and his Master's in Health, PE & Recreation from Saint Mary's College of California in 2003.

"My coaching philosophy is to take each individual and help them grow within their position — both on and off the field. Everything is developed based on trust and honesty. Simple coaching cues with consistent feedback, and accountable continuous fundamental repetition."

What a Private Session Looks Like

Every session runs approximately 70 minutes. Ten minutes of that is purposeful — review, drill setup, and a coaching check-in. The remaining 60 minutes is structured across four distinct phases, adjusted for your ability and progress.

1
Warm-Up
Dynamic activation, arm care, and footwork priming for peak performance
2
Platform Work
Top Gun drops, weight transfer, and hip mechanics — the foundation of every throw
3
Off-Platform
Climbs, bails, stance arrows — movement outside the pocket at full speed
4
Routes & Concepts
Individual routes, coverage reads, and decision-making under realistic pressure

Four Pillars.
One Complete QB.

Every quarterback Coach Brown has developed was built on the same foundation. It's not one thing — it's four things executed at the highest level, on every single rep.

1

Footwork & Mechanics

Everything starts at the ground. Drop timing, weight transfer, hip rotation, and release point consistency are drilled until they're automatic. A quarterback who controls his footwork controls the entire play — there are no shortcuts.

Drop Timing Hip Mechanics Release Point Weight Transfer
2

Arm Mechanics & Velocity

Arm strength is built through proper mechanics, not brute force. Coach Brown's approach builds an efficient throwing motion that maximizes velocity, touch, and accuracy simultaneously — the complete package.

Throwing Motion Velocity Touch & Accuracy
3

Pre-Snap Reads & Decisions

The game is won before the ball is snapped. This is where good quarterbacks separate from great ones — identifying coverages, anticipating windows, and processing the field with speed and precision.

4

Mental Toughness & Leadership

The best quarterbacks lead. Coach Brown trains the mental side of the position — composure under pressure, communicating with teammates, and performing in the moments that define a player's career.

I had the privilege to play for Coach Brown from 2019-2021. Coach Brown gave us the tools to be successful week in and week out to what we were specifically seeing. The preparation and the coaching allowed myself and our team to see great success at the college level. Coach Brown is extremely personable and will coach you up and make you believe you can do anything and beat anyone. From drill work to film study, you learn why things are being done and how to execute them at the highest level. I am very grateful and fortunate to have Coach Brown as my Quarterback Coach at the college level.

I spent three years with Coach Brown and he is exceptional in his ability to develop quarterbacks. More than technique, it is the purpose and intent behind every rep that makes his coaching so impactful. His passion and mastery of the position is infectious, which translated to a deeper level of understanding and improved play for myself. I feel grateful for the opportunity to learn under Coach Brown and would highly recommend him to any quarterback looking to develop on and off the field.

I have had the privilege to know Coach Brown since 2005. Over the past twenty-one years he has given the high school football programs I have coached several advanced and innovative offensive concepts. Not only is he a high level collegiate offensive mind, but he is the best quarterback coach in the area! Coach Brown has been training my son for the past seven years and he is a huge reason why he is a two-time 1st Team All State Quarterback and a state champion. I know he has trained several quarterbacks all over the Lehigh Valley and beyond. The quarterbacks he has trained have become impact players at multiple levels of football. All you have to do is look at the quarterbacks who have come out of Muhlenberg College. Most impressively, in 2022, he trained our wide receiver, who we were moving to quarterback. He turned him into an effective signal caller — going 8-1 as a starter and earning All League Honors. He went on to train successive Southern Lehigh quarterbacks who went on to earn All League, All Area, and All State honors. Coach Brown is sure to elevate your quarterback's game!

I have known Coach Brown since my high school days, where he was an outstanding gym teacher who always brought energy, positivity, and genuine care for his students. Carrying over to college ball, his passion and love for the game of football are unmatched by any coach I've ever encountered. His enthusiasm is contagious whether he's coaching on the field, teaching in the classroom, or mentoring athletes. He's always trying to get the best out of you even on your worst days. With more than 20 years of coaching experience, Coach Brown carries an understanding of football like no other and has the ability to develop quarterbacks as players, leaders, and great young men. His coaching skillset and resume give him the edge in training young athletes and allowing them to succeed in the future. Beyond football, he is an incredible family man whose character and commitment to others set a tremendous example for everyone around him. He has also made a significant impact on the local football community through his dedication to high school athletes like myself, making him a very respected coach in the area. I'd say I'm extremely lucky to have had Coach Brown and I'm grateful to have learned from him both in high school and at Muhlenberg College.

Without hesitation, I recommend Trey Brown for QB training. Coach Brown dives into the training and genuinely cares about helping you become a better quarterback by getting to know you as a player and person. The drills that he does translate to the field, and the instruction is very in depth, which helps you understand what you're trying to accomplish. Not only does he help with the physical aspect of the game, but he also has helped with the mental side including understanding different coverages and how you want to attack them, location of the football in certain situations, and mentally how a QB should lead and attack every day. On top of all of this, he has been around the game for a while and has many connections that will help to set you up if you would like to play at the next level. Coach Brown is an inspirational and knowledgeable coach!

Coach Brown has been one of the most influential coaches and people I've had in my entire career. His football knowledge, and more specifically knowledge of the quarterback position and all of its nuances, helped me grow immensely year after year during our four years together. Coach Brown invests in his players, is committed to learning more about the game daily, and truly wants to know his players on a personal level. He will be able to bring out the untapped potential in any quarterback looking to improve their game.

Coach Brown is a master of quarterback development. From the whiteboard to the field, every aspect of his coaching is intentional, detailed, and geared toward helping athletes reach their full potential. His meticulous preparation, deep understanding of the game, and ability to communicate complex concepts in a simple, effective way set him apart from the rest. Coach Brown taught me not only the physical and technical aspects of the position, but also how to prepare mentally, lead a team, and trust my abilities under pressure. The foundation he helped build played a significant role in my development as a four-year college starting quarterback. Playing quarterback at a high level is one of the most demanding challenges in sports. It requires a unique combination of skill, intelligence, discipline, and leadership. Coach Brown understands how to develop each of those qualities and tailors his coaching to bring out the best in every athlete he works with. Trust in Coach Brown to boost your game to the next level!
